Over the past five years, online schooling has popularised across the globe, especially in the UK. The online learning model is deemed effective for IGCSE and A Level students. However, its efficacy isn’t restricted to older students. In fact, online schooling is strongly recommended to younger students between the ages of 7 and 13 as well.

As the parent of a primary prep student, you should have a razor-sharp focus on providing them with a fun, wholesome, and enriching online learning experience. In this blog, we’ll help you do just that. We’ll cover everything you need to know about online learning for primary prep students. Keep reading.

1. How Does Online School Work for Primary Prep Students?

Primary prep students (ages 7–10) require an engaging, fun, and retentive learning approach. Parents often shudder at the thought of online schooling because they worry that online lessons cannot hold children’s attention. This is a common misconception, but we understand why many parents believe so.

At Cambridge Home School Online, we plan immersive online lessons that help students develop and sustain a genuine interest in their lessons. You will be required to set up your child’s study station. Select a quiet, distraction-free room. Set up a computer/laptop with a strong, stable Wi-Fi connection. Your child should also possess the required notebooks, books, and stationery.

If any other items were requested for the lesson, you would be required to arrange them beforehand. This is usually the case when teachers have in-class activities planned. If the class includes a science experiment, you will be requested to acquire the relevant items. Online classes are well-timed, well-structured, and engaging.

At CHS Online, we use advanced audio-visual technology to supplement each lesson. We believe that young students must be actively engaged through audio-visual stimulation. Our MA/MSc/PhD teachers incorporate animations, sound, and fun graphics in the lessons to make them twice as compelling. This approach increases focus and engagement levels across the classroom. Students don’t zone out; instead, they remain engrossed in their lessons through and through.

2. Will I Be Required to Assist My Child?

Parents must set up their child’s classes and check up on them after school. Once your child’s classes end for the day, you can reconvene and plan the rest of their day. However, parents are not required to assist their children during their classes; that’s the teacher’s job.

Our MA/MSc/PhD qualified teachers are attentive, conscientious, and alert. They keep each student on track, so parents don’t have to worry about intervening every now and then. If you want to keep an eye on your child and frequently check in, you’re more than welcome to do so. However, you don’t have to feel pressured to do so, especially if you’re working from home or running errands.

Our teachers shoulder the responsibility of educating students, and they don’t take this lightly. As a parent, you don’t have to worry about your child getting distracted. If that happens, our teachers will promptly reel them back into the lesson.

To minimise the risk of distraction, we keep our student-teacher ratio particularly low. Each class comprises 8–10 pupils, no more. This enables our teachers to closely track each student’s activity and performance.

In most conventional schools, the student-teacher ratio is particularly high. As many as 25 students are crammed into a single classroom. No matter how experienced and qualified the teacher may be, they’ll naturally struggle to pay attention to every child under such circumstances. Needless to say, this is exactly what happens. Teachers cannot track each student’s progress and performance. If a student zones out during the class, their teacher may not realise what has happened until much later. This can be very detrimental to the learning process.

We make sure this doesn’t happen.

3. Will My Child Learn Better?

This is a common concern among parents. Does online schooling actually help primary prep students learn better? Yes! At CHS Online, we use an independent curriculum to help students perform exceptionally well in school. Our pupils cover greater academic ground owing to the breadth and depth of their curriculum. As a result, they secure top grades. At the same time, they enjoy themselves.

We plan various activities, games, presentations, and exercises during our classes. Young students must be intellectually stimulated. This process is ineffective if the element of “fun” is taken out of it. Our goal is to help primary prep students learn and enjoy themselves. We believe that if children don’t have fun, they cannot consistently learn. Our teachers are trained to master the art of fun learning.

Our classes are comprehensive and engaging. Since students enjoy the lessons, they pay close attention to what’s happening in class. As a result, they retain the bulk of their lessons. The outcome is excellent performance in class, consistent personal and social growth, and impressive academic progression from one homeschooling stage to the next.
