The Online Schooling Model in Birmingham
As the online learning model popularises across Birmingham, many parents are making the switch from conventional schooling. This transition has become a simple choice considering the extent of bullying in schools across the UK.
Birmingham Mail recently covered the story of Zahoor Hussain (father) and Rehaan Hussain (son). The father expressed his concerns over his son’s negative experiences in school. Rehaan, 14, was scared to go to school because of the bullying he faced from “a pack of bullies.” Rehaan also faced harassment and threats, which took a physical and mental toll on him.

Parents feel hesitant about sending their children to conventional schools as reports of school bullying, peer pressure, harassment, ostracisation, and abuse continue to increase. By switching to online schooling, parents can provide their children with a quality and—most importantly—safe education. At Cambridge Home School Online, this is a responsibility we do not take lightly.
Our MA/MSc/PhD qualified subject specialist teachers assiduously moderate every classroom to ensure that students feel safe, protected, and encouraged. Moreover, we keep our classroom size particularly low. Students are taught in small groups of 8–10 pupils. This is very different from most conventional schools, which teach as many as 25 and even 30 students in a single classroom. Unfortunately, this increases the risk of in-class bullying. Teachers are unable to monitor the class as well as they should owing to the large number of students present. They can also not provide one-on-one attention, support, and guidance to students. As a result, the risk of classroom bullying remains at an all-time high.
Our empathetic and conscientious teachers provide individualised attention to every student, making sure they feel comfortable and content in the classroom. They also closely track classroom activity to ensure that any implicit jab or derogatory comment doesn’t go unnoticed. If there’s any classroom bullying detected, the perpetrator is removed from the online class, and strict disciplinary action is taken against them. We don’t take mental health lightly. Our teachers, academic specialists, and school counsellors work collectively to ensure that every student has a positive, safe, and wholesome online learning experience at our institution.
We don’t want to provide the same quality standard as the top conventional schools in the UK; we wish to set a higher, better standard for students. Over the years, we’ve succeeded in doing so. In June 2021, 86% of our IGCSE students secured A*s and As in their target subjects. 83% of our A Level students secured two As and a B or higher, as requested by top universities. Moreover, all students who applied received offers from some of the best universities across the globe.
Our track record is indicative of our focus on helping students grow academically. Online learning is also gaining traction in Birmingham because of its flexibility. Students aren’t forced to sit through protracted lessons and return home feeling burned out. The online schooling pace is well-balanced and controlled. Students aren’t overworked, nor are they made to stay in school for an unnecessarily long duration. They receive focused lessons and perform exceptionally well in school (as highlighted above).

Cambridge Home School Online's Teaching Style
Our esteemed teachers deliver engaging, retentive, and well-structured lessons that help students gain an academic edge and progress exceptionally well from one academic stage to another.
Each student is provided access to a vast online library of educational resources, including videos, presentations, catch-up lessons, quizzes, past papers, study guides, and a range of other tools.
Read MoreStudents can utilise these resources after school hours to study, revise, and complete their homework. This approach helps us prevent breaks in the learning process. Students continue to freshen up on new topics they just learned in school.
The outcome? Excellent recollection. When critical concepts are continually and consistently revised, they cement in the mind exceptionally well. Students perform much better in school and secure excellent grades.
Across each academic stage, we use a well-rounded, independent, and interdisciplinary curriculum. This is a departure from the national curriculum, which is too prescriptive. It fails to cover curricular breadth and depth, leaving students with insufficient knowledge. When pupils sit their exams, they struggle to recollect critical concepts and get confused, which affects their grades. By using an independent curriculum, we cover more ground and build greater exam confidence in students.
